pilot bearing problem

I am doing an s5 swap on my 87 na. I have had some trouble with getting the bearing to seat. I thought there was a casing left from another bearing but upon further review it seems like that is not the problem. I ordered another bearing from auto zone and they gave me a bushing... Were they bushings for the s5s? Any help would be great.

just use a size 14 mm socket. That's what I did. It was just the right size to jam it in there and not fracture the bearing.

I believe that there is some type of bushing/thich washer thing on the outside of the pilot bearing. I could be wrong though.

No, they were all roller bearings and then a seal is installed.
Pilot bearing has been the same for ALL RX7's from day one, and I believe the RX8 uses the same bearing and seal.
