Vac leak problem (searched)

Iluvmyrx7.com is down and i couldnt find any S4 specific things when i searched SO... Where in bloody hell does this vac line go!!! Could this be why my car wont idle on its own in the mornings? After it warms up it idles fine but when i'm on the brakes it bounces around.

Oh darn. That nipple goes to the double throttle diaphram on the right side, towards the front of the throttle body. There is a green/white checkvalve inbetween the two items.

First check and see if your double throttle diaphram is good or bad. If bad, the consider just capping off the nipple shown in your photo.

The double throttle diaphram is used to close the outboard secondary throttle plates on a cold engine. They, the secondary throttle plates are spring loaded to the wide open position if the double throttle diaphram fails. Unlike a turbo engine.

There's a free, online, factory service manual who's url is on this site. Look in the FUEL section for non turbo cars.

My wife's 1986 sport has that water thermo valve that feeds vacuum to the DOUBLE THROTTLE DIAPHRAM. And I'm fairly sure there is a very good picture in the online, free, factory service manual. Fuel Section for non-turbo cars.

My BAD. I didn't notice the third nipple. That is for an automatic transmission. I just looked online at the free, online fsm. It, that third nipple is for autotransmissions. So do you have an autotransmission. NO? Then just cap it off and be on your way. Page 4A53 and 4A57 of the 88fsm.

Someone probably got one out of a junk yard and put it on and didn't know/care what that nipple did in life. I'd just cap it off. The double throttle diaphram is probably busted also. Put a vac hose on it and suck on the tube. If it won't hold vacuum its busted. I''ve NEVER seen one that was good, even in a wrecking yard. Since the outer throttle plates are spring loaded open, I've never pony'd up the big bucks for a new one. Just take it easy when the engine is cold.
