One is what kind of power will a series 5 engine make with a series 4 turbo...It should boost to stock 5.5 psi im guessing but with more power on Series 5 engine so I dont know what thats like..ANyone?

Second ? is how much money does it cost for a mechanic to drop in a turbo 11 engine from japan...Labor wise...How long should this take? THnx guys.

uuuu your kidding me right? 1000 bucks. Shouldnt this take just a few hours...My mechanic only charged me 500 in labor for a complete engine rebuild wich required all that and a little more...

I have a series 4 car with 89 engine and s4 turbo. Thats why I ask.

they are interchangeable but the S5 turbo is way better. if you got your engine removed rebuilt and reinstalled you got a steal.....

I doubt that was a "complete" rebuild because the parts alone cost that much.

The compressor (intake) side of the two turbos are identical, it's the turbine (exhaust) side that's different. At the same boost there's probably a 5-10hp advantage with the S5 turbo and manifold. Note that the wastgates are also identical; the S5's higher boost was achieved by an ECU controlled bleed solenoid on the wastegate line. Stock S4 boost is 6.56psi.

The wastegates are not identical. The S5 has two ports instead of one on the S4.

Oh, my bad.

That was a good deal, then, depending on what was charged for the parts. An in-car rebuild in my area is about $2,000 parts & labor.

Reading the original post again, I see that the question is about a J-spec TII, not an American model. Yes, this will be more expensive than an American TII engine because they are not 100% interchangeable. I would ask the mechanic who rebuilt the engine what he would charge for this, as it looks like his pricing is pretty good.

Ok...I paid 23oo for my complete engine rebuild. Im just saying I paid 500 for 12 hours labor including taking the engine out , rebuilding and putting it back in... I was just asking how much it would cost for a mechanic to just put one in from japan already dressed. The one thats in thier now is jspec so it should swap right in?

SO how much ya think...I mean its not important i can just call the guy up and ask. Thnx
