Exclamation Turbo problems..

Last week i bought a new turbo, it is a garret i think .60 or something . The deal is after i installed it in the car it has a weird sound coming from the back end of the turbo. Its a sound similar to a jet or something, i cant realy distinguish what it is. I took it out and nothing inside seems to be making contact with the turbo housing.. what could this be?

Are there any problems with the way its running/boosting?

Mine is the same. It drives me nuts. My 86 never made that noise, but now my vert is doing it after the change in exhaust. For mine the noise is coming out of the exhaust from what I can tell, since I can't recreate the sound in the garage in park. It sounds like the wastegate is opening too early and letting most of the boost out of the system. I would expect a surge of power once you hit boost but I can't tell any difference. I would like to know if there is anything that could cause this also. Could the boost solenoid be screwed up causing the system to let the boost out the wastegate too early?

Well from what i know about turbos, that sound could be the turbine wheel, but when i took out the turbo it didnt seem to be making contact anywhere, second option was that the oil outlet could be clogged, checked the lines and no they are not clogged, and my third option could be where the turbo and the exhaust manifold mount up, could it be the gasket? im just confused, and that noise is just enoyi ng.

Well actually there seems to be a very small leak around the downpipe, probably from when i installed the pyrometer. It is very litle and you only notice it when you get close to the side of the car. Could a small leak cause the turbo to sound like that? and if yes, WHY?

Yes. Exhaust leaks allow the sound to escape...
