trouble fitting o-rings between lim and housing

Just like the topic says, I had to pull my lim due to a broken turbo coolant feed stud now the lim is at the machine shop getting fixed so I ordered new gaskets and o-rings from mazdatrix (both were factory originals and shot to hell).

Well just out of curiousity I went out into the garage and started tinkering and I noticed that the o-rings dont fit into their grooves. They are just slightly to big and definitly wont stay seated while I try to put the lim back on.

So I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem with using mazdatrix replacement o-rings or if perhaps the s5 o-rings are slightly larger or if im just plain missing something here, any help would be appreciated.

Used o-rings swell and are very hard to re-fit into position. The new o-rings can sometimes like to pop out upon assembly, but a little dab of petroleum jelly or hylomar will hold them in place.
The o-rings are the same between S4 and S5, so no worries there.

I had no problem with mine. Ordered them from mazdatrix and they fit fine. When you compare the old orings to the new ones the size difference is very very noticable.

I noticed that too, as did one friend. The solution? Home Depot, purcahsed a pair a fraction smaller but the same diameter.

Don't get smaller ones.... they are desinged just a bit bigger than the grooves... get some Hylomar, put a little bit into the outside edge of the groove the whole way around, and then you have to kind of force 'em into the grooves, I put my index finger of my right hand on one side of the ring, then start at the other side with the thumb and index finger of my other hand together and trace the edge of the ring with those two digits towards the right side (the fingers goes to the thop and the thumb to the bottom as you go right) Once it sits inside the groove, it will pretty much stay there until you put the LIM onto the block.

Hylomar is great stuff, doesn't dry out, but make a good tack!!

If you think those are a pain.. wait until you put a set of water and compression seals into a rotor housing!!!!!! that's FUN!!!!!!!, especially if you are using the Teflon Encapsulated compression rings.... yeesh
