Gotta be the cable- either disconnected or broken.

Easiest thing to check first is the connection at the transmission.

hopefully it's not the plastic piece inside the transmission...

probably the cable though.

The cable also could have snapped right behind the cluster. make sure you check all connection points.

There is no sensor for the speedo. Its a mechanical speedo. If you see the plastic part in the trans, that means the cable is broken and the end connection is broken off the cable itself.

well it almost always gets disconnected at the cluster anyway so I would be sure to check there.

speedometer cluster is kind of hard to remove.my Advice is to start on the Left side Disconnecting the two Crown type connectors. They are held on with a Tab located in the middle of the Wiring Connection. The speedo cable has a Squeeze type tab on the plastic ring surrounding the Cable...and Best thing I can say is Start Under the car and work to the Inside. It is Easier to look at the cable going IN to the transmission First than Tear at the Speedo surround and Disconnect four switches before even getting at the cluster..Good Luck,STYX.
