Either it is a fuel problem(way too Rich), or your Oil control Bearings are on their way out. That's if it is grey smoke.

Oil leak, internal engine problem or turbo issue.

You could try using an SAFC. (Super Air Flow Converter by Apexi). It won't be professional grade but it piggybacks your ECU and allows you to control fuel input at certain RPMs.

Cheers,
Cody

White smoke might be a lead too water gasket failure!, ur engine might be leaky. Do a compression check!

i had the same problem with my fc. turns out i needed a re-build on it. it was something internal. i was leaking oil inside and it was passing into the exh.

A little oil burning is what the engines were designed to do on start up ( I have a puff of blue smoke) I think its for the apex seals. I don't smoke after its running or warmed up, I do know that a little oil burning is normal from what I have read.

You are correct, but it doesn't cause the type of smoke he is describing. Because he has no turbo, tho only cause for that type of smoke is the internal oil seals on the rotors failing.

both of you guys complaining about smoke are inclined to have a rebuild ASAP.

I have an N/A. my smoke doesn't fill up the street at all just a little blue than nothing, I was told that all rotaries puff some smoke on start up because the oil that lubricates the internals burns up after its first started (something about internal oil feed?). Mine runs and idles smooth and no smoke comes out (older) rebuild with about 8K on it, it wasn't driven much.

VA 2 things...

first, white smoke @ idle does not mean coolant... it could be raw fuel under no load...

second, the blow by blue / gray smoke upon engine start up is due to the fact that the control rings are cold and need time for expansion...

one more thing, if an engine is using coolant and you have white smoke, a compression test will not tell you ****...

a pressure test on the cooling system would be more appropriate...
