Tip For Removing Oem Bushings From Rear Subframe
Tip For Removing Oem Bushings From Rear Subframe
I Did This Yesterday.
First I Tried The Press, Super Hard To Set Up. Cause Of The Control Arm Mounts.
Then I Tried To Burn The Rubber Portion Out.
Besides Killing My Lungs, Didnt Do Much Of Anything, Just Made A Mess.
So Far Like 2.5 Hrs Has Passed, And While Looking At The Bushing, I Noticed That There Is A Metal Sleve That Is Bigger Than The Lip On The Subframe.
So I Grabbed A Chisel And Heavy Hammer, And Started Pounding On The Lip Of The Bushing.
After About 2 Min Of Pounding I Mad More Progress Than 2.5 Hrs Of Other Tactics.
Cf : Chisel And Hammer, Beat The Metal Lip Of The Bushing Out, Prob Help If You Use Penetrating Oil

I can vouch for hammering on that metal sleeve, I had drilled around the center to get the middle sleeve of the bushing out and then took a chisel and a hammer to the sleeve and it came out eventually. The sleeves needed to come out anyways for the replacement bushings I got ^.^
I had to grab a mechanic from my shop to help me do this. I drilled out all the rubber around the metal sleeve and the shims around it and then just pryed them out. The rest we had to grind and burn out. There is still some left in there though.
