smoke

so car is running great havent noticed anything else but this one problem now...

So just normal driving the car is smooth and not smoking but when i get on it past 6k then i slow down i realize it will smoke and shoot a few flames.
Its not like the engine is dying or turbo is giving out i mean first and second i have to try and keep the car straight as i get sideways and i have no power steering so i mean its got a lot of power still.
(feels like more than it should be but its my first rx7 so i dont know how fast i should be anyway but i pulled half a car on a ss camaro 2010)

the car is a 87 t2 with
3"straight turbo back
walbro 255 pump
intake
S5 intake manifold and turbo

New BAC
timing and tps just done at a shop

also while installing the new bac which is the last thing i did before i even drove the car, the previous one had a cap on the J pipe that sucks in air so i just put that on there again is that what im supposed to do or does it connect somewhere.

(Im talking about the Bypass Air control Valve its on the bottom of it when you turn the car on it sucks air in.)

Ben

It could be your turbo or your oil control seals.

Well im pretty sure its the turbo starting to go bad seals must be messed up not sure BUT it holds boost without spikes or anything soo im just going to keep it until it dies a little more then replace it..

Is a Gt28R a good turbo for these cars i am trying to get to mid-high 12's but my main goal is corners so i dont want a lot of lag but i still want power...

if i am correct, the s5 intake mani is slightly different than that of the s4. there is an extra intake port right below the primary fuel injectors that works with the vdi. you can be running just fine until you floor it and the secondary injectors kick in. your intake is letting in more air with that extra intake port which it is making the ecu think that it needs more fuel as well, hense the high rpm flames and rich smoke. what i would suggest is take off the s5 intake and put the s4 back on. there was a reason for the intake setup when they left the manufacturing line at the factory. just a helpful hint coming from someone who has ran into the same problem....

Black your talking about n/a intake manifolds this guy is turbo.. also gt28rs is too small for a rotary. Go bigger. Gt35r will get you into 12's no problem. Hell even a bnr stage 3/4 should do it.

What ^ said.

Black, your post made my head hurt. The VDI intake does cause more air to enter the engine. That in turn DOES require more fuel. But it was not the source of your problem.
