Should i buy it?

I found an rx7 FC 89 with 122k miles original motor convertable. He previously got an offer for 750 and that person never followed through and that was about a year ago, its has been sitting for 10 years and was last turned over in 2017, Its been a project car and they thought the problem was the fuel pump. (which somehow never got finished?) The guy said it would turn over but not stay on.

Im wanting this car for its sweet s5 13b for my 1st gen Do you think its worth the 750? What should i look for in the way of problems on this car? I plan on doing a compression check on it but what ele should i look for?

If its been sitting for 10 years, assume you'll have to go through the engine and at least reseal it. As for using it in a first gen, if you want to use the wiring from the 2nd gen you can make it work in your 2nd gen. If that is worth your time is up to you, as you'll have a complete parts car so most of the cost is in time.

Offer $500 for the car. I feel that's fair. There's a lot of wiggle room there.

I got it $300. i got 25 psi in the rear, but it was at a very low starter RPM maybe 1 pulse per second and nothing on the front, which didnt make sense since i could hear the pulses after i took the tester off and tried to run it.

https://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/unstore.htm the section starting "Dealing With An RX-7 That Has Been Stored Improperly" would be a good place to start for you.

What is the value of a FC Convertible in a perfect shape?

I payed my convertible (Turbo 2 european version) 10.500Euros (11.300$) in 2016. Was it a fair deal?
It was in a perfect shape except for the audio system i had to rebuild (power antenna, radio and cables).

Very much unrelated to the thread at hand, but most of us will not be able to gauge what a good deal is for a car we havnt seen and a region/country we are not from. If no other pristine examples of a Turbo vert exist where you live...i guess its valued at whatever someone will pay.

Magnificent find! Especially for $300. Nice. It will REALLY look nice with a good cleanup,...
Looks like a very-used version of my '88,...!
Best of luck with the restoration/return to the road of this car,...
Again, congrats!
Todd.
