Before I buy my neighbors FC rx7, what should I look for?

Before I even think about buying this rx7 gtu, what exactly should I look for? and when I buy it, what should be replaced immediately? Because I've heard many rumors about the seals going bad and a rotor having to be replaced every 3000 miles, stuff like that. I'm just interested in immediate problems that I should look into. Any information would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Where did you hear that? rofl
check the faq first, you should find most of your answers there.

Do you have a compression tester?

If the car is runnning and it smokes like a frieght train it would time for a rebuild. Plus what year GTU is it. Also take it for a test drive and make sure everything works like it suppost to. I had someone follow me after I bought mine and it was tracking all over the road. Just dont jump into buying something. Research is key here.

I heard that from a whole bunch of D-Bags who were trying to convince me not to buy one. Nope, I don't have a compression tester. How much do they cost and where would I get one?

I'm not quite sure what year it is, but from what I can see... it looks like a 90'. Yeah, research would be good... anything is better than my 95' Chevy Monte Carlo, talk about problems... that car has them all.

95 monte= the suck. Lemme guess has one of those 30 series 60 degree V6 in it. If so it has as many problems as my corsica. Well if it is a 90 Model its not the good GTU oh well. As for a compression test you can get one at advance or NAPA. JUst read all the FAQs and stuff at the top of the page and youll be fine. Oh yeah Welcome to the forums.

Open the driver door and look down in the door jam. It should tell you the year there.

How much is he asking? Do you have a digi cam you could snap some quick pics with?

Yeah, that car was a waste of my money... bought it for $7,000 and have put $7,000 into it since 2002. What would be the best year for the GTU? Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, I'll do that sometime this week and then I'll post them. He's not always home, so I won't be able to check on the year just yet.

I'm not sure how much he wants for it, but the Kelly Blue Book says that it should be around $1,800 for an owner's sale.
