S5 without engine: What can I do?
Hi, guys!
I'm writting you because I want to know your opinion about my FC3S project.
Well, I have an S5 chassis (complete) with gearbox, ecu, lsd, etc. But, (of course, ever have a big BUT) do not have engine and car's wiring are tangled. To have an idea, wires can not arrive to pop ups, and do not have any relay. I try to distance the wiring, but it's too difficult without one to have reference).
Since I do not have the engine, I am thinking about importing a unit from Japan and using it as a donor (besides having several spare parts). But I don't know if this choice can have any problem.
Another option would be to use a LINK (or something similar) and search for a 13BT engine or even change to a JZ (for a crazy example)
I would like you to share your ideas and help me find the light.
Thanks for your time,
Regards

Is your chassis right hand drive?
Anything you get from Japan will be, so the wiring will all be reversed.
Honestly, unless a S5 engine pops up somewhere/somehow, a LSx swap is probably the simplest path to a running car.
At least, it would be in the US, not sure about Spain.

You could always get a front clip. It should have the factory harness you need for the lights plus any other pieces from the dash forward that you need. Like clokker mentioned some things will be reversed if it's from Japan. Only other problem is the they are really expensive, at least here in the states. Don't know about Spain.

I had thought about flipping the wiring (from left to right) and adapting the turn lights to work properly. Anything else should be reversed?
On the other hand, in Spain, it is very difficult to find RX7 and anything that is related.
The option to assemble an LS I do not know, but I doubt that bringing all the components of the USA will be cheap.
A front clip brings the motor and its wiring. But do you have relays and other components? Maybe I could do the inside wiring and just look for the engine wiring?
Thanks for your time.
It depends on the clip. A lot of them they basically cut the car just behind the dash and you get everything forward of that. So if it's intact you get everything from there to the nose of the car engine, wiring, relays, etc. Problem is they're expensive. Looks like $4k to $5k here in the states if you can find one.
