S5 turbo on my car and S4 on friends Lude
What's up fellas?? I've got a couple questions here....
1st, while I putting a fresh rebuild in the 7, I have decided to go with a series 5 turbo as well (i have an 87TII) What changes, besides an S5 manifold, need to be made witht the swap??
2nd, with my S4 turbo, I would like to rebuild it and donate it to my friend with a 98 Prelude S... I am just curious what all this would take since im not too familiar with the prelude's setup. Here's what im thinking so far: my turbo, fab'ed manifold, exhaust pipe, boost controller, boost sensor, intercooler, a BOV and a fuel controller would be a very good idea too. Anything im forgetting?? I didn't think too long about it... If he didn't run to high of boost (6-8psi) and upgraded his fuel delivery, i bet the engine could take it eh?
Thanks
Aaron

I'd check the Honda forum with your prelude question, I'm sure they'll be able to answer you better than most anyone here.
Prelude Forum
but your 7 question I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable than me will be able to answer you

The S5 turbo practically bolts in place of the S5 one. You’ll be able to delete the dual scroll solenoid and cap its lines. Since it’s off the car, if you have the tools a little porting of the wastegate wouldn’t hurt. Or a lot...
Personally, I think that a 15yo turbo is a bit "budget" on such a nice new car like a Prelude, but that's just me. The motor should handle 6-8psi of boost without problems. But just remind your friend that with a big exhaust he’s going to have the same overboosting problems as any other S4. This would be particularly bad on an engine with a high CR like the Prelude. Be careful.
Felix, why don't you think it would "spool"? It's not a big turbo, and the Prelude's engine is plenty big enough to spin it up.

Yeah... he doesn't have a bunch of cash so it is quite budget but it would be a fun project!! In the process of rebuilding the turbo, if we were to, perhaps, fit it with a .60 turbine from another turbo (junkyard of course) do you think that would help out? That is assuming the stock turbine won't do... also, is my list pretty complete for needed parts??
Thanks!

i 2 think that turbine would be a bit big for the lude the exhaust housing is just too big for a little piston car only wanting that little of boost he probably could not spool it till about 5k

I guess it couldn't hurt to look, but already having the turbocharger itself might make a custom kit cheaper. Do you know anyone who could bend intercooler piping and make a custom manifold?
