S4 vs S5 power steering rack

I put a 90 t2 power steering rack in my 88 vert, it seemed to work fine for a couple of days and now it is making loud squeeling noises when I turn either direction, almost sounds like a rubber band streaching way to far. the rack was supposedly freshly rebuilt.

Are the racks the same or do I need a S4 rack?

ATF fluid level is on the money and the lines were labeled prior to removal and replaced in same locations.

My question is are the racks the same or do I need a S4 specific rack. the rack I used was from a S5 T2 90 model

ATF??

Are you talking about the actual steering rack or the Power Steering Pump? If it's the pump, I believe that there are a few different style pumps used throughout the years that the FC was produced. I remember seeing a few FC's at the junkyard and each of them had a different PS pump... I'm not quite sure what that really means... Maybe you need to stick with the same year/model pump as the original...Maybe it doesn't really make a difference....

Straight from the FSM

ATF type F (M2C33f) or dextron 2

I have searched and found the part numbers are different between the S4 and the S5. S5 have 2 different part numbers depending on chassis number.
All I want to know is are they interchangable or not?????
