Talking Have mercy/ Help the new guy!

I have recently purchased a 1988 rx7. The main issue with it is that it needs a new exhaust system. I am considering this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

but I have no clue if it is the right thing to do. I have money, but not alot, so some suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard a few bad things about Pacesetter (Monza) products, but I have no experience first hand. The general feeling I get from others who have, is you get what you pay for, not the best quality.

Racing Beat Road Race full system. About $1200 without hangers & gasket. I love mine. Looks Awesome + sounds great & nice pull from 5k rpm to redline.

Just get a Corksport exhaust, its cheaper, lighter, and flows much better. The only downfall is that it;s louder.

those pipes oyu posted are better of serving time as redneck plumbing, save for : ssautochrome, corksport (made by ssautochrome), racing beat, or Apexi n1's, or buy some ebay mufflers and have somone weld up a system for ya
but racing beat is your best bet if your willing to pay the price

i'm curious...

what's wrong with just making a custom exhaust?

i was lookin to make one for my TII... 2.75" downpipe.. then 3" all the way single exhaust with an N1 style canister at the end...

other then the sound the car makes.. i don't see much benefit of buying an RB or corksport

Depends on how you piece the custom exhaust together. I have seen places sell "custom" exhaust piping, which would allow you to piece everything together yourself. It's a fine option, the only problem is that aside from increasing the piping diameter, many of these "custom" exhausts are basically oem replacements. They do nothing to decrease the number of bends and increase flow, other than increase the piping diameter. I could just be nitpicking here, it could be a non-issue, but it is something to think about.

The best thing about a custom setup, is you can get a full stainless exhaust with whatever muffler you like, and many times end up spending less than a packaged name brand cat-back.

Racing Beat, Racing Beat, Racing Beat. Built to last, and de-blats the engine noise better than anything else out there. I have it a full system on my 87TII. One of the best mods I ever did.

I think you misunderstand what "custom" means. A custom exhaust is one you have made up (or make yourself) for your car. It's not a DIY-assembly kit as you imply. If you go to an exhaust shop and get an off-the-shelf "OEM replacement", that's not a custom exhaust.

No, custom is whatever you want. If you want fewer bends then you have to ask for it. And I can assure you the custom parts of my exhaust definitely increased flow...

Stainless steel is highly over-rated as an exhaust material. The benefits do not even come close to outweighing the considerable extra cost.

Before you do any exhaust, read the writeup on RX-7 exhausts at Mazdatrix.com. And I quote..."the exhaust gas temperatures produced by rotary engines is impressive". Whatever system you pick must be able to withstand the heat or you'll be replacing it again in a very short time. Do your homework first! Exhaust systems tend to be a bit pricey and you only want to do it once.

well he stated that he doesnt have a whole lot of money yet people throw out on to the table $1200.00 systems and so on. listen if you really want a lil bang for your buck just order a n1 style muffler from some where ,ebays the cheapest for like $50.00 plus shipping maybe cheaper and get custom piping done for like $150.00 depending on what size piping you go with (2.50 is good) together thats going to come around $250.00 and look at it this way someone else is doing the work to put it up for you . just make sure they paint the welds with high temp paint so that the welds dont start to rust after their done just my 2cents
