Rear Diffuser...How it works.

I have a general idea of what it does/how it works. Just wondering if somebody can explain it, I'm not sure if what I'm thinking is right. A diagram of some sort would be really helpful.

Oh, and I'd put this in the exterior forum, but that seems to be more "show" oriented. This is more of a technical subject.

In a properly tested and built rear diffuser, air passes through from front to rear while having to fill a larger volume. This creates a low pressure area under the car as the air exits the rear.

low pressure means vacuum and vacuum means suckage.

Good luck, I'd imagine it would take quite a bit of knowledge of aerodynamics etc.

Back on topic...
What would be a good reason to have one on a street car? Like when is it used?(if that makes any sense) I would assume more during high speed driving but I don't know.

high speeds. very high speeds. the faster you go the more down force you make. i would think its pretty impractical on a street car other than asthetics.

It really needs to be a part of an overall aero package to function at it's best (or even at all). You need a low ride height (this is critical), and an agressive front bumper and a smooth underbody will greatly help. It will probably only do any real good at quite high speeds, say over 100mph, but that all depends on the car. It doesn't really have much usefulness on a street car, but it looks badass!

It does look awesome (minus the wing on that car). But for everyday street use I could see myself scraping it on everything, so it'd crack like the 2nd day I got it. Not cool.

As far as making your own I'm sure you could make one that looked good, but I'd imagine you'd need a wind tunnel to test it, to make sure it functioned properly.

I like the wing and diffuser look, IF it's on a well prepped track car with enough power and grip to make it useful. On a street car used to go around town and such it's useless and ricey.

I like the look of that red T2. I love those diffusers and that wing. I want to get those for my FC too, but I need more power. Don't get me wrong I love the 13b NA cause I beat on it and still get reliabilty. Actually my ultimate dream is a 20B NA. I've seen Re-Amemiya's FD that had a 20B NA soooo nice!!!
