RE Amemiya FC2002 bumper is here! Replica on the way!
I will be waiting for the replicas to come out. if it's $200 dollars less than the Original. So Chuck Please continue and your doing a great Job. And also how much would be the shipping 91501 burbank Ca
For those of you that are interested in purchasing a RE FC2000 Cowl. I thought i would share my personal experiences with the RE kit. "First and foremost not to offend Re Amemiya or anything, but in all honesty for the price of the kit, i was expecting BETTER QUALITY. as far as fitting the kit is concerned it is "NOT" a direct bolt on whatsoever. The bumper has to be modified for it to go in perfect. Also you figure that when "RE" designed the kit they would obviously take the time out to figure out "HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO CHANGE THE BULBS WHEN THEY EVENTUALLY BURN OUT ? ". Because when the bumper is installed there is "NO WAY" you could possibly fit your hands in there to remove and install the bulbs, unless you got hands of a 3 yr old child. Not to mention for the price of the kit you figure it would come with some spare bulbs. Also the "IPF" lights that come with the kit are "THE BIGGEST PIECE OF **** I HAVE EVER SEEN AS FAR AS LIGHTING IS CONCERNED" when you wash the car a couple of times, after awhile. "I DONT KNOW HOW" water leaks in the bulbs and then they get fogged up. From the heat of the lights you figure after sometime it would dry up the water inside but it doesent at all, and the worse part is that in the day time it looks so ugly looking at the bulbs with water sitting inside them. Also the lens covers that come with the kit are piece of **** as well. Wash the car a couple of times, and then you will see that you "ALWAYS" have to unscrew the "DAMN" lens covers and dry up the water on the inside so you dont see those ugly water spots when it dry's. Which leads to broken lens covers in very little time from "unscrewing and screwing, the lens covers which brake in the corner where the screws are located. "Again ladies and gentleman you figure for the $2,000.00 dollars + $200.00 shipping, and not to mention the trucking company called me up stating that i need to pay a additional $129.00 to cover the gas/frieght surcharge. For the money the quality is not that great !!! It was shipped by "Roadway Express". Not to mention when i called "Rotary Performance RX7.com" i spoke to Rocky and Ari several times to see if they can can get me replacement bulbs, and lens covers that i needed, and to no avail they NEVER got back to me, even after 15-20 phone calls no B.S. !!! They were more interested in selling me the kit and taking my money $$$, but after i installed it, and then i ran into the problems with the lights, and the lens covers, they could not get me replacement parts "UNBELIVABLE". They promised me they would look into it but nothing, never heard from them again. Keep in mind i bought the kit in Oct of 2001 at that price. Now they have dropped in price. In my opinion its just not worth it. When my car came out of the shop it was beautiful unfortunately after having the kit for a few years things happen like paint chips and i got into a fender bender as well. If you guys need pics i can post some to let you see what your up against. But its a disgrace to post pics of my T-II now in the condition that its in. If you guys need any more info just P.M. me Thanks.

Right now I am talking to the RE-Amemiya exporting agent to see if I will be able to purchase 20 of those RE Amemiya original full cowl bumpers without lights at an disocunt that I will still be able to offer the original bumper with my own headlight kit for $1000 and with HID for $1500 to you guys. Maybe we can work out a deal so everyone will be happy.
I don't want to make a copy of it if I don't have to. My goal is to provide the best product with the cheapest price. If it can happen that way, I rather buy more from RE Amemiya. Let's see what happens.

^^^ I think that's a great idea Chuck... Then you won't be out a big investment of building molds, etc. and you wouldn't have complaints about fitment, etc. Well, maybe some complaints, but the response would be: "Hey, talk to RE, they made it."
I'd be interested either way in the bumper w/o headlights or your own kit. RE is definitely my personal favorite of bumpers, and $600 sounds like a very good price. I can work out the headlight details myself -- or only $400 more and I can get yours ready to go...
Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

About the water getting in the light covers. Maybe try a thin layer of clear silicone around the edge of both the bulbs and the edge of the cover before putting it back on. Wouldn't make it any harder to get off really and should work.

Ryde or Die I was going to do that but unfortunately the water got in there first. So when I get the replacements from Chuck im going to do it just to be assured that it wont happen again.
Thanks for the advice anyways.

I've seen a picture of wider fenders (widened blisters like stock is) with the FC2000 bumper, doesn't look bad
But I still think those fenders look nasty.
And do you really need a widebody with an N/A?

So, AFTER you hear about Donn's private hell with the RE kit.. NOW you decide to try and order a whole bunch , with a very large investment , that you've already stated you didn't want to do becuse of the lack of FC support for other parts ??
on top of that , this little comment:
"BTW, if you want yours to be made in S glass and expoxy resin, send me the resin and fiberglass and I will have it made for you and charging you the same price. This way you know I am not ripping you off on material. Since you already have 18 years of experience, you should know how much epoxy to send and how much fiberglass it's going to take, right Sounds good? =)"
Proves your not only disorganized but extremely shady in your business ethics if you'd plan to charge me over an above the cost of the product to use MY materials..
I'd call you a few names here Chuck, but I'm not into flame wars. suffice to say my company won't be doing any business with you.
To all those that DO end up with this kit , I hope you remember what Donn's said when you go through the same thing

What are you smoking? Let me have some of that because obviously you have no idea what other people are talking about.
1. Donn is having problem with his bumper and he private messaged me on the HID light kit and also the lexan covers for the bumper. He is here to share his bad experience with the bad lighting on the orignal IPF lights. The lack of support is from rx7.com. what does that have do with me? Did he buy the bumper from me and I was not able to get him the lights covers?
2. It's my money. If I want to invest that much, it's my business. Am I taking your money? Why do you care?
3. According to you, material cost is only $35. So that's why I said if you want yours to be done in S glass and expoxy resin, send in your material and I am not going to charge you extra. What's so shady about it? How about I just give it to you for $35 cheaper if you provide your own material.
4. Before you question my business ethics, question yourself. Who the hell do you think you are anways when you jump into conclusion when obviously you have no idea what's going on???
5. Why don't you take over this project if it's so easy to do. How about you make it and I just buy it from you for $35 like you said and bumper with HID for $400-500 using Hella 90mm lights? I would really love to see how you pull that one off.
6. Your comments or whatever you said only proves that you do not do any research and you do not have any background check before you say something. I know it's the internet but be reponsible of what you said.

Obviously it's better then then the stuff your shooting up on..
3. yes your low end, $3 sq/yrd ( even less if it's chop glass) H glass and $25 for 10 gal of polyester resin ( but by your own reconning your cost on the mateirals is SOOO much higher.. so taking $35 off the total cost would hardly cover what you've marked the part up by now would it..
.. If this is the best example of YOUR business ethics then your primed for a CEO position with ENRON..
..however I doubt, seeing as you have no clue about S-glass, spectrum or epoxy types that you'd even know how, or whom ever it is you get to do work, to actually coat the mould, lay it up, post cure it and pull it without wasting my materials and trashing your mold..
4. My OPINION is based on what you've said, the responses you've given and how you've approached this whole thing. Having been in both the aerospace FRP and automotive FRP business for 18 years, I do have SOME clue as to the in's and outs of what's NOT being said and what is.. so far your charging 'A' list prices for something that has the same composition as what would come out of low - mid level Erubini for $350, the fact that your buying your Hella HID parts for retail ( becuse I can sure as hell get Hella, Phillips & McCoullough retail for $ 500- 600 MSRP Canadian) means you don't really have the either the where with-all to get wholesale, your just not looking for the right supplier.. or you've burned a few bridges and now your stuck going retail on this.
5. Why would I take over this project? you say I have no clue what's ging on ? are you saying you want someone who has no idea what 'going on' behind the scenes to take over ??
Tell you what , I'll give it a shot, you send me the RE front bumper and I'll see what I can do to start pumping out carbon fiber/kevlar versions for the same money.. it's honestly against my own sense of ethics to sell parts made the same way septic tanks are.. and frankly I don't want my company build quality associated with low end fiberglass.
6. my responsability is to me, not you. If your going to hang it out on the net for all to see then expect at least one person to have questions you don't like. As for your business, I don't remember you repsponding to the post that has you in some legal hot water with RE-A, what's to say that you don't loose your shirt and the assets of the people who've paid you a deposit for the parts become part of the settlement? But now you say your going to bring in RE parts.. ? so what's the deal have you made an agreement with RE? or is this another on the sly deal..?
It's obvious you don't like what I've siad well.. too bad, it is after all MY opnion, so far you've provided rethoric and double talk in response but you've yet to provide ( beyond an overly inflated cost list), any evidence in response and rebuttal to my comments..
That however is your call to make.. Chuck.

Nuts
I think it's a great idea however you do it, make your own molds, buy RE-A and put good lights in em.
I'm just glad that there's someone out there putting in the effort to support the FC3S crowd with new products, especially stuff that we wouldn't normally get to see in the states.
and as long as everyone is sharing their opinions, whatever PPC-racing is getting all heated about, doesn't seem to affect me, or my desire to get a sweet RE-A bumper.
Keep up the good work Chuck.

what has PPC-racing said that was so wrong?
He just gave his opinion on how to make the bumper and to what tools and materials to use to make a quality piece.
Chuck was out of line when he said "BTW, if you want yours to be made in S glass and expoxy resin, send me the resin and fiberglass and I will have it made for you and charging you the same price. Maybe he was joking around. It sounds like he was just being a smartass though.. thats the way it came across to me.

.. regardless of what I say or is said by others, the proof is ultimately in the product, if people are happy with the price and product qualtity then they will sell, if not, then they won't .. I'm not telling anyone HOW to run thier business, but I like my FC and if someone is going to take the time and effort to make part why make it the same lvl as a sunfire part, this car deserves more.. but the question is now, is it going to be repo's or the real thing?
but again, this is my opinion.
but again, this is my opinion.
hey chuck. the way you are coming about the FC market is wrong. yes everyone wants re and feed. but even the replicas are more then full civic body kits. most FC owners have very little money. NOW what you SHOULD DO is take a look on auctions.yahoo.co.jp there are a ton of simple clean looking from bumpers and side skirts on there from small drift tune companys. maybe be no name but FC owners don't really care to much about that. the bumpers go for under 100 bucks and the designs are very simple. i'm sure you can bring these to the market suuuper cheap and sell much much more. also take a look at the wangan/drift wings on there. they are very nice a sleek also very cheap. THIS is TRUE japanese tuning. no one really rocks the big RE names. its all about simple easy to get parts that are cheap and you dont care about breaking. i'm sure if you invested in making copys of the products on yahoo you will make more money then with the RE bumper. sure ppl want that bumper bad. but whos gonna really drop 650+ for it. these are FC drivers and most are really cheap. im sorry. please take a look at what i'm talking about.

He's got a point
I just spent an hour or so on auctions.yahoo.co.jp browsing through the search results for "fc3s" and we're missing out on alot over here. domokunSPL makes a good point, they had some really nice kits with simple lines, that were pretty cheap (if I've got my yen conversion figured out) and a couple other bits and pieces, some of which I could figure out, like a fd3s upper intake adapter.
It'll take a little while to browse through all the listings (unless you can read japanese) but it's worth it. Just for comparison go to ebay.com and type in "fc3s" and see the results you get, not 1/10th as much, and mostly crap.

1. According to you, the cost of the bumper is not the material, it's the labor and the mold. Now you assume I get the mold made for free and the labor is free too? So what's wrong with me saying if you want yours to be made in S glass and epoxy resin, send your own material. The price you are paying is mostly labor and contribtution to the mold. And we all know I am not going to sell 1000+ of them like those civic bumpers. Most likely there will be less than 20 people buying it. You do know how to run business. You know the mold is a fixed cost right? and you have to divided the fixed cost among the unit you sell, right?? So what's wrong with my ethics? And now you assume I have no idea on S glass and epoxy resin. Where did you get that idea from? Why do you have to make so many assumptions ever since you start posting like you live right next to me or something that you know everything about the factory, my life, etc
2. Hella 90mm lights are $250 a set. On the HID, I use factory audi or bmw Hella ballast and philips bulbs. I don't use cheap bull **** no brand ones. So you are saying if I pay you $500 Canadian, you can get me a set of Hella 90mm lights low/high beam and a pair of Hella ballasts and a pair of HID bulbs? Of course I am not obligated to tell you where I get my supply from but if you are saying in public that you get get those for $500-600 a set in Canadian dollar. Can you follow through?
3. If you want to make the RE-Amemiya bumper in carbon fiber and kevlar, please get the original one yourself and do that. According to you, my connection sucks and I always pay at retail so maybe you can get one from Japan cheaper. Make your own investment if you want to make money.
4. I am fine with comments but you attacked my business and my character. How is that a comment? What was your comment based on?
5. As for the business between RE-Amemiya and me, that's our business. What does it have to do with you?? I have been importing RE-Amemiya stuff for almost 2 years so why can't I import them. It's not not I have never done it before. Like I said, I am talking to RE-Amemiya to see if they are willing to sell me 25 bumpers without lights at affordable prices. Where the hell is that settlement bull **** coming from? Am I taking any deposit right now? Another assumption?
6. What did I say that's double talk?
7. Serioulsy, I really have no idea what you are talking about and where you got all those ideas from. I just know one thing, all you have done is talk. I have never seen anything made by you or whatever. I have been making 3rd gen parts for over 5 years. You think I am someone new??
8. If you are responsible only to yourself, be responsible for whatever you said. Stop making all those assumptions like you lived next door to me or something.

3. yes your low end, $3 sq/yrd ( even less if it's chop glass) H glass and $25 for 10 gal of polyester resin ( but by your own reconning your cost on the mateirals is SOOO much higher.. so taking $35 off the total cost would hardly cover what you've marked the part up by now would it..
Chuck.
