questions on swaps

hey, im new to the forums and i picked up a 86 fc. i was wondering what it would take to do a turbo fd swap on it?

well i got a good deal with the fc, and im pretty good at doing swaps. it cant be that hard

i know that the initial swap isnt that bad, im just interested in the wiring side of the swap. what all is needed

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Its more work than its worth IMO. It has been done, but its not easy. Try searching.

I'm curious as to why you want to do an FD swap as opposed to a TII swap or a 13B-RE? When modded, the engines are comparable and the TII or 13B-RE swaps are much easier than a 13B-REW swap.

well im not too worried about doing a fd swap just a swap that is turbo. so i will have a better platform to work off of. im new to rx7s and this is my first one. im thinking more about swapping to the TII. im always up to a challenge.

I don't think you understand why it is costly to put a 13BREW in an FC. Its the mounts. The mounts are COMPLETELY different. You can't even bolt in the REW. It would colst as much to put in the 13BREW as it would to just go 20B. Just get a 13BT from an FC. Cosmo 13Bs don't bolt in either, but there are mounts out there for that.

thanks for giving me a starting point to go off of, and i will take more look into it. for the most part you guys have been helpful. im trying to learn what i can, i originally started with nissans doing a sr20det swap on my 240sx. rebuilt the motor and just want to do the same with the rx7. im here in oklahoma and was wondering if anyone might know any rx7 shops in the central region?

I did the Turbo swap into my NA.....it's not difficult unless you do not research it first. Go to the main RX7 page and scroll down to the regional forums to find your area. the search buttont is your friend and you really REALLY will learn to love it and use it often.........most of the questions you have a a newbie will have already been asked and answered. Good luck and don't do anything stupid.
