how much is a lot?? The rotary burns about 1 quart every 1k miles since it uses oil to lubricate the cumbustion chamber.

Only if your seals are bad or there is some other type of leak. Normal consumption on a street car is about 1 qt per 3,000 miles.

The warning buzzer and indicator light should have come on at 2 quarts low.

Not gonna make it to 120K miles if you keep driving with it 3 quarts low.

check for leaks. Look at the oil cooler hoses and oil cooler itselft. Something major has to be wrong with it.
