pulsation damper

I have a 1986 rx-7. Is there any way to bypass the pulsation damper so you dont have that chance of a fire if it leaks?

The screw coming out does NOT make a PD bad.

The screw can be scewed back in but you MUST not put much TORQUE on it. Because the part your screwing the screw into, is mounted in the middle of the rubber diaphram and twisting the diaphram WILL rupture it and THAT makes the PD leak fuel.

Put locktite or threadlocker on the threads and gently install the screw until resistance is felt. STOP. Then reinstall the plastic cover. Done except for leak checking for about twenty minutes with the intake removed.

I prefer to go with an aftermarket FPR and use the banjo bolt. I have no running car anyway. Not at the moment.

Giving advice and then saying you have no running car is not verry reasuring.

So as long as there are not any gas puddes aroudnt the PD I should be fine? what is a good way to check the PD? I plan on replacing as soon as i get the $. When I open the hood of the car I can smell some gas, but its not like raw gas, more like an engine that has been operating, but idk never had an engine smell like that.

Giving advice when my car isn't running is a bad idea? So because I blew an apex seal on a high mileage engine I have no room to talk? You had better tell half the board to shut up as well then because I know EVERY RX-7 on here runs right? No one EVER blows an engine right? That means some guy that has owned his car for a week but it runs should have more weight in a conversation?

Next time don't ask for advice then just SEARCH. READ THE FAQ. READ THE ARCHIVE.

Kudos for over reacting. Didnt mean to get you all steamed up. Im just saying when you give someone advice on a car and then follow that by saying your car doesnt run isnt going to get people to listen to you. Maybe you did blow your apex seals and your knowledge is valuable, but how am I supposed to know that. Its kind of like going to the Dr. for an operation and after he finishes he tells you your fine. Then he tells you, all the patients before you that he operated on aren't living anymore. Just dont give advice and say your car doesnt run to back it up.

could you take the spot where the pd is supposed to hook up, run tubing from that area away from the engine to like the front a fender, install the PD to the tube there, and run a line back to the fuel injectors?

So, yes... you could.. but the PD dampens pressure waves.. if its that far from the injectors, it might not do a very good job of that. Its best to keep it as close as possible to the injectors.

Banjo bolt is one way of going, and there is yes and no's if you ask if it will kill your system. I personally think that the PD was there for a reason and plugging the hole with a banjo will work fine, I think it will eventually degrade the injectors. But who gives a ****. Do you expect to own your car for another 100k miles? Banjo it and be done. If your injectors fail, just get more. Its cheaper than an engine fire.
