There are people out there running fast times with big horsepower running the stock T2 clutch type diff. Even some 3rd gen guys see it as an upgrade. I think your halfshafts will go before your diff. If you want to upgrade there is a few companies that sell LSD's. I think Cusco, Kaaz and ATS just to name a few.
oh really? i thought you couldnt rebuild it once it wears out...mines been giving me trouble..it dosent always lock up and spin both tires it try's to pull a one legger and then if i try to do a doughnut it wont do it cause both wheels wont spin..so im assuming the clutches are worn out

You have an s4, right? If so you have a clutch-type diff which is rebuildable. Its the s5 viscous diffs that you can't rebuild. If you are doing peg-leg burnouts then it probably needs to be rebuilt.
The rebuild parts are at the bottom of this page: http://mazdatrix.com/G8LSD.HTM You can also change how strongly it locks up by using different thickness plates, which are also sold on that page.

There is a dial for setting the lash that a transmission/rearend shop can do for you if you can handle the physical work. Should cut down on your total cost. (usually 4x4 shops are pro's at it since they are always changing gearing/installing lockers etc)
