pressure sensor

ok so the plastic that holds the hose on the pressure sensor broke but i havent noticed any difference with the car, the vacuum hose is still conected to the engine but not the pressure sensor. what does the pressure sensor do. and why is it that i dont notice any difference since it broke.

The ECU uses the pressure sensor to decide when to stage the secondaries. You'll need to reconnect it.

ive already bought a new one but havent installed it. what are the side effects of not having it working? also my car pulls hard first and second but after 3rd it seems to lose alot of power. could the the pressure sensor be the cause? and if not what could be.

The secondarys will come online each and every time you reach 3800 rpm whether or not there is a REAL load on the engine or not. They should only come online when there is a Load determined by the pressure sensor.

The hose being off it equals the ECU seeing load all day long.

There's even a workaround in the 87FSM in the Fuel and Emissions section where you remove the hose and cap the hose off. Then rev to 3800 and listen for the secondarys to come online.

If this is an NA I wonder how critical pressure sensor operation is for the ECU...

^^^wondering the same thing. but i guess its better to leave it on...mazda thought it was a good idea to use it on all versions so seems like a good idea. of course its not necessary on a race car though...

Read the post of HENRIK on the thread above. Mostly ignore the rest of us on that thread.

Actually, do a SEARCH using the name HENRIK and you can come up with some good information on ECU's.
