Pre-Mixing? Why?

I've read, and searched a little, but why pre-mix? Is this for modified engines or all FC's? I'm new with this car & it's a bit used. 135K miles on an NA vert.. I'll probably rebuild the engine someday, but hopefully not for at least a year. Is premixing something i should consider?

Pre-mixing is adding 2-cycle oil to your gas like you would a 2-cycle engine. This is done becuase rotaries actually inject oil into the chamber to lubricate the rotor seals. The reason you would pre-mix is because 2-cycle oil is meant to burn, while regular oil isn't. Burning regular oil can leave carbon deposits in the engine, plus 2-cycle oil is just better for this purpose. Its used more on modified/racing cars, but its benificial to all rotaries. Usually people remove the OMP, which is what adds oil in the engine, but I think you can do it a little even with it still working.
Edit: or is it 2-stroke oil? My brain is totally fried right now.

Gives much better coverage of the entire apex seal length due to the fact it is 'atomised' with the fuel going into the engine.

It's more like I like NOT HAVING TO REPEAT MYSELF EVERY COUPLE HOURS!

It's a whole lot easier to just cut&paste a URL.

thanks for the link, that was really what i was looking for. I don't know if i wanna go with disconnecting my oil injection system right now. Anyone have experience using a light premix (400:1) as that article suggests as a precaution? Will it help make an older engine last a little longer before a rebuild is needed?

oh! found another thread on this & found out that some fairly experienced guys leave the omp intact in addition to premixing. just didn't mention suggested ratio... is 400:1 good enough just in case the omp fails?
