Power steering transplant?

I have A/C but I don't use it. I want to go faster! I like to drift with my thumb. So, I'm going to keep my Powersteering. Want to go faster! I noticed that the powersteering could go where my a/c is. This could clean up the bay and low center of gravity. Has anyone else done this? I have a s4 n/a 5 speed.

This explains why I've never understood "drifting".
Thumbs are involved...who knew?

If it's not broken, don't fix it!

Since you're not running a turbo with a front mount, this seems pointless. If you want the weight reduction just remove the ac components. I really don't see how lowering a 5lb power steering pump 12" is going to make any noticable about of difference. I just can't see justifying all of that work for no gain.

You won't have thumbs for very long if you drift with them.

There isn't any bracket I have seen that puts the P/S where the A/C is. There is, however, a bracket that puts the ALT where the A/C is. Anything here will be custom.

By the way, I heard moving the P/S where the A/C gives you a like 23HP since the belt will be shorter.

I thought a power steering bracket from a gsl-se will mount where the ac compressor goes?

I don't care what you think... I just want to know if it will fit and if anyone has done it. If I'm going to take out my a/c, the power steering is in the way of removal. BTW, I bet it weights more than 5 pounds. Every little thing makes a big difference!

I don't think I would need a bracket, they look like the same size. I like your idea of just moving the the Alt where the a/c is, Thanks!

Just because they look the same size, doesn't mean the mounting points are the same. It just won't work without a custom bracket.

I saw a thread a while back where someone did what you are considering doing. They cut the PS AC bracket it half, then moved the top half with the power steering pump to the bottom. It requires some additional holes drilled to mount it, but it didn't look very complicated. If I run across the thread again I'll link you to it.

Then don't make a thread asking for input.

You can do it for cosmetic reasons if you want, but it will not affect performance in any noticeable way.

thanks for the links, fc3c69!

Did you guys know that the Puerto Ricans, and the Kiwis are going under 10sec 1/4 miles with 13b n/a engines? Oxymoron is irrelevant with a n/a rotary, haha! No turbo lag here.

I have a buddy that has a t2 with the set-up I want, he used a gsl-se bracket.

Are you guys still going to hate when I have my 20b n/a?

that was some of the things i removed to clean up my engine bay. the ac stuff is about 10-15 pounds and did nothing for improving hp. the ac only draws power when it is on so when you are thumb drifting jdm tyte dawwg just keep it on OFF position and you'll be good. lower center gravity will no be affected if you lower the p\s. what you need to lower is your expectation to go fast on n/a. and your car down to the floor which then makes it not streetable. and i don't hate on n/a. i have a non turbo myself. i don't need more then 200hp to go from school and work and i don't race no more. so i rather have a non turbo and save my self the troubles.
