Hi everyone!!! After 3 years of being member of this forum. And Learned everything I now from it. I can give something back.


After having some many issues with my new setup I thought that the only way to be able to finish it was to de-power my P/S. A few days ago I so a picture posted by BoostingmyS5 where he relocate the P/S by using the RX-7 84-85 P/S Bracket.

So these are the tools that I used:
2” Cut-off wheel
Hand Saw
File .


As you can see in the pic above the 1st gen p/s bracket will not fit with the 2nd gen. p/s pump. You will have to cut to make it fit. This the most time consuming part since the 2” cut off wheel cannot go that deep since I don’t have a plasma cutter I had to use a standard hand saw.



Now that you cut the excess of material you should have enough room for the pump, but you are not done yet on the pic you will see a blue circle which is an opening for the end piece were the p/s pulley is bolted on. The 1st gen p/s pump seems to be mm. smaller in diameter the 2nd gen, so my pump (yours probably ) will not fit. Since my dremel got stolen I had to make this diameter bigger by using one of those metal file to shave down those mm. If you have a dramel this will be easy.


Now that you have done all these the bracket bolts right on were the old one used to be. And this is how it should look like (sorry for the crappy pics I will take better if need them)

And this is my engine bay if someone its interested why I did what I did.


Ok I hope this is helpful for someone doing something like this. I'm not master fabricator or certify mechanic so please don’t be so harsh. Everything that I know and done its by info provided by this forum.

Too bad I already routed my i/c piping udner the stock pump location

Any pics before the intercooler was mounted? And does the belt ride on the main pulley at the A/C pulley or the steering pulley after re-location?

belt will ride on the main pulley, adjusting p/s pulley and P/S pulley. I dont know how will it work with the A/C since I took it out long time ago that I dont even remember where was it located.

Ok so I found the right belt to get to work. I got it at strauss discount auto is an automotive v-belt 33013.

I'm doing this same thing right now. Were you able to use the stock powersteering lines that go from the pump to the rack? Or did you have to source new lines??

you can use the old lines good luck

I used this write up as the basis for my own write up last year. I used the aluminum AC/PS bracket available on FCs though. The aluminum makes it easier to cut and work with.

ima bring this back, does the bracket need to be from a 13b? or is 12a ok?

It needs to be a 13B, hence 84-85. The 12A is quite a bit different.
