Power Steering Removal, write-up, guideance??

I know its been covered, but Ive just read so many different ways, I'm in the process of doing this now, and good help is appreciated. Anybody have a link to removing the power steering pump and lines....and looping or capping them?

Hears what I've heard:

Remove pump, and all ines to rack...turn the rack from stop to stop both ways with wheel so most of the fluid will come out...then just cap off the lines. What do you cap the lines of with? Where? At the rack inself? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No, you don't want to remove all the fliud, I turned the wheel a half turn in both direction so the rack wasn't over filled, I was gonna loop the lines the but it seemed to much a hassle, I just went to home depot got 8 washer about 1/16 of and inche thick to block off the back bolt, I used the banjo bolts and washers just block off the hole on the side above the threads, for the third smaller return line your gonna laugh I couldn't find a bolt that would fit it anywhere fastener specialist ect.... I just use a 12MM top, I think it was for the intercooler, but it fit the very bottom of this fat thread, which is a 16 mm 1/4 threaded bolt hard to find!!!! it hasn't leaked a drop yet!!!, it looks as if its just sitting in there and its not touching the stock threads, but the bottom of the threads was the perfect size for it so I just torqued it down a little, all is good and it is and about 1/2 as hard as it was without the belt......if you don't understand what I am saying start removing the pump and the 2 line going to the pump and the lines that connect to the banjo bolts, the other one goes to the front of the car and acts as a cooling line.....

this is kind of 1/2 on/off the subject, but what happens if u just take out the fuse for the power steering.

I heard it's like power assist steering or something. And would this be bad for the car/pump??

This is also half and half on the subject. Can anyone give a subjective opinion on before and after removing their Power Steering pump? I drove a N/A RX7 with manual steering and I didn't like it, the efforts at low speed were really high. I have a TII now but the PS acts funny every once and a while. So I would love to elminate it and gain the HP taken by the PS pump.
But what will I be trading it for?

Well after searching for a bit I have decided to remove the PS pump and loop the lines.
I'll take some pictures and write down which bolts/fittings I use. This seems to be a pretty popular/repetitive thread. Maybe some pictures will help.
Marcus219 I won't be able to get to it this weekend or next so I am not much help.

Sure Jeremy, Looping the P/s rack lines or caping them off make the P/S rack almost identicle with the manual rack expect for the faster turner on the p/s rack.

Uh-huh.
I'd believe you... except that I know you're wrong from doing this myself.

Tell me, captain. Have you ever taken apart both a manual rack and a power rack and placed them side by side for complete comparison?
Ship off, matey, with your second-hand rumours. You've dumped yourself into unknown water, and it appears your compass is broken.
