Opinions on fortune auto, or other coilovers
Im looking at fortune auto coilovers for the FC, 8k front 6k rear. I plan on having a street build, maybe autocross once or twice a year. The other options are BC racing BR series, or ISC N1 suspension. Let me know your thoughts, trying to stick around the $1200 range, and going to be checking hard on black friday.

earlier this year, i was where you are and trying to absorb as much information as i could in order to make an informed decision. i narrowed things down to two models of BC Racing and Fortune Auto. eventually i went with the BC (BR Series). i wish i could tell you i had a solid reason, but my decision was somewhat arbitrary. at the end of the day, i'm probably not sophisticated (or knowledgeable) enough to discern the finer points between the two without some kind of real comparison - like driving them back to back. so i chose. i will live with my choice either way. also, i said to myself that when it comes time to do the Rx-8, then i'll probably go with the Fortune Auto ones.
here's a recent thread that is related and may give you some insight: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...treet-1154295/

Thank you for your reply! I guess ill hit that road this Friday, when I see what is cheaper!
Ive read that coilover thread, it does not look like a good time... everything will hurt I guess.

Worthwhile looking into part shop max coilovers. I run their cheaper ones (stiffer) with swift 6k springs in the rear and 8k up front and they’re too much for dailying. The more expensive ones are way softer.
They’re local to me and brand new replacement dampeners are $100-150 each. Changed out the dampeners after 40-50k and like brand new.

From my thread that was linked and other threads I stumbled on it sounds like most are over sprung. Might think about 7kg front 5kg rear. I didn't look at Fortune Auto until after I had purchased the Redshift Racing ones. I somehow overlooked them. Everything I read about them sounds good.

I have been running fortune auto 500 coil-overs for about 4 years now with about 18 high performance track days and a few autocross events. I have had absolutely no issues with my set up. I'm running 9K Front and 7K rear for spring rates. The only thing I did recently was machine the camber plates more so I could pull more negative camber.

they are, its kind of the default rate, although there are others. it does work really well on the track. on a smooth road, or with good dampers its ok.
8/6 on bumpy roads is a little hardcore, especially if the dampers aren't great
ive got a set of Tein's, 8/6 and on a smooth road its almost BMW like, but on rough roads my head falls off. we only have rough roads around here, they seem to go for color when they resurface roads and not smoothness or something. there are potholes that are older than me around here...

$150 each.
so just saying you should factor in if they are serviceable or easily replaced.
My boss has king coilovers on his truck and sent the set in to be rebuilt for $800.
You can daily the stiff part shop max coilovers. I did it for years and have had them in the fc for 10 years. Just bear in mind they offer the softer coils for a little more money.
I just set up my STI differently to be more like a street rally car with softer than stock coilovers, but stupid stiff sway bars so I can cruise and be able to pitch the car with gas and brake when aggressive with zero roll.
