Check the CAS. Did you remove or touch any wires or connectors in the engine bay ?
Just one spark and none at all after that means the CAS is not working

I had to touch a few wires to work around in the engine bay but everything is back to it's place. The problem began a while ago when the engine would crank but wouldn't start, like there was no spark. After many tries or sometimes the next day, it would start like nothing happened!?
The problem re-appeared more and more frequently to a point that it now only starts on rare occasions.
Please tell me what is the CAS??

If it starts, then its not the CAS (Crack Angle Sensor). It might be something fuel or electrical related.

The CAS is responsible for deducing the current angle of the rotors in relationship to the housing (sparkplugs to be exact). Last week, when we were building dnutzuk's single-turbo FD, the Haltech's manual incorrectly stated to connect the CAS wires the other way around. Then the car would spark just once, and then give no spark at all. After telling him to connect the wires on the CAS correctly, the car started right up

The CAS on the FD is very different from the FC, but they do serve the same purpose. However, I'll say it again: if the car starts every one in a while, then its not the CAS (or it's so misaligned or malfuctioning, that you need a new one).

A few weeks ago I checked the Crank Angle Sensor by checking the resistance at the connector as described in the manuals (Haynes or Mazda, I have both). It seemed fine. I'm keeping a 1986 GXL 2+2 for the parst I can use on my 1987 Turbo II and I thought of switching the CAS but then it gave me the same reading.
Can the alignment of the CAS go off by itself (I never touched that part before)? Any other idea?

Check the leading coil pack, and the plug wires.

I checked all the coils the same way I checked the CAS, by measuring the resistance and it came out OK. I already tried switching the plug wires with the old GXL and it made no difference (although both sets are old). Maybe buying a new set could do the trick?

Well, today I swapped the coils from my other car and it still won't start. At least I'm now 100% sure it's not the coils. I still can try switching the crank angle sensor and buying some new plug wires but after that, I don't know what else to do!!!

........Anybody has an idea?
