No Spark

Ok, so I picked up a non running 83 rx7. It has a switchboard setup instead of a key switch.

I am not getting spark. New wires, plugs, cap and rotor, and I am getting power to each coil.

I am not getting spark from either coil.

Thank you in advance for the help. This is my first rotary.

Well, since you don't have the stock ignition setup on the column, its kind of hard to know where
to point you to start troubleshooting.

So the thing that controls the spark is the ignitor(s) and the connection(s) to the coil(s).

Have you tested your ignitors?

Is the dizzy magnetic pickup triggering the ignitors?

Testing these is covered in the FSM. A copy can be found here Foxed.ca

I would start by putting the ignition key switch back to stock and go from there. That will eliminate any issues with that and help us help you troubleshoot. There's a reason someone modified it.. That tells me there were issues with it previously.

Thank you! I started with testing the wires going from the igniters to the coils and had to replace them. Now she fires right up and purrs like a kitten. 😆

Glad you were able to get the problem solved. Did you find burnt wiring or was if just corroded to the point where it failed a resistance test?

I stripped the harness back and they were just old and cracked. Lol.
