OMG my ears are bleeding!!!!!
Ok so today I figure I am gonna take my car for a ride up to the store to get a spark plug socket big enough to change my plugs.. afterwards I come home replace my plugs and wires, fire up the car and oooooooo nice and smooth
I reach down and give the actuators for the 5th and 6th whatchamacalat to make sure they are opening when I hit 3K or whatever it is..
I pull out and go to the end of my street... I make a right and gun it and out of no where a nice waaaaaa to WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA pop, bang bobo..
needless to say I think I either broke a hole in the pipe from the manifodl to the convertor or the gasket went... either way something went and I am curious .... did I do soemthing or was it just luck of the draw to happen once I did the above..
are these notorious for blowing exhaust gaskets or did I prolly rupture the pipe?
I cant exactly see the leak at the time but I can feel a small leak from between the manifold and cat, and do to the EXCESSIVE noise I am preaty sure it uncorked itself from before the cat...
anywho the reason for this post in this section is to find out.. WHAT do u think happened?
Dave

well I found the problem... the exhaust broke right where the first pipe flange bolts to the manifold flange...
the pipe seperated from the flange itself

Just had this fixed on my car as well
Here's the old downpipe section:
And here's the new section about to be welded in:
The old section was horribly made and pretty much just went from a slight crack to cracked off in one short blast down the highway. Turbo lag is now much less with the new pipe. Now I have to redo my dyno chart and see if it looks any smoother/better.

I think mine broke off because I backed the 7 onto on my lawn which is a basic hill and I wonder if I hit the exhaust hard without knowing it..
either way if it is weldable it will get done today if not what do I do then?
