You need to get the correct pump. Swapping to the electric pump would be VERY complicated(almost impossible) and you wouldn't get any benefit...only more trouble.

I read your post again. I think you are wanting to put an S5 engine with the electric OMP in place of your currect S4 engine with the mechanical pump. Is that correct? If so, then yes you can remove the front cover and electric pump from the S5 engine that you bought and replace it with the S4 front cover and mechanical pump from your old S4 engine.

It's not too difficult to change the front cover. Did you get a complete engine with manifolds, injectors, etc? If so, the S5 fuel injectors won't be plug and play with your S4 wiring harness.

IIRC, the S5 ECU will go into limp mode without the electric OMP, however the RTEK (2.0?) can bypass that. Hence the rodent's question.

We are talking about the OMP, correct?

• IMPORTED FROM JAPAN
• Make: Mazda
• Engine Code: 13B Turbo
• Year: 87-88
• Valve Train: 2 Rotary, Turbo 1.3L
• Horse Power:
• Transmission: 205hp@6500
• Torque: 193lbs@3500
• Displacement: 1308cc
• Mileage: Approximately 25-35 Thousand Miles
• Condition: Best
• Included: Complete Motor
Complete Head & Block
Distributor, Intake Manifold
Exhaust Manifold, Alternator
Power Steering Pump
Fuel Rail, Injectors
Throttle Body, Turbo, Inter cooler
Ummm....

Also, where does it mention the oil pump (or OMP)?

No, you don't have to take apart the whole engine. You just need to remove the oil pan and the aluminum front cover that the oil metering pump is bolted to.

If you are a mechanic, then you won't have any problem swapping the front covers.
