rotarys eat oil ... its injected into the combustion chamber ...
i cant remember the exact specs but its something like a quart for every 250-500 miles or something like that??? i dont know the actual specs, but rotarys are SUPPOSED to eat oil ..
keep you eye on that ... and the pavement under car .... they eat oil , but they also leak it ...
leak it bad .. eat is cool

they aren't supposed to eat that much...its more like every 1500-2000 miles
It sounds to me like your oil lines going to and from the oil cooler are leaking...does your car smoke a lot?

are you checking your coolant also? how often and hard do you drive your car? do you let it idle down to normal opeating temp? changed oil and did not tighten bolt? compression tested? a few thoughts, under stop and go traffic in heat of day i notice a slight increase in oil consumption, but never a whole quart, if it is a touch keep checking it and top it off, but i would check the whole thing out before i felt at ease

Oil consumption should be between 1500 and 2000 miles a quart. This is entirely dependent on how much throttle you use and is no more than your average american OHV V8.
As found in the owners manuals you must check the oil every gas fill up.

Nah... you should really flame him for not using the easy to use search function found in the upper right hand corner of the page...
Or maybe you should flame him for not even looking through the 2nd gen archive.
Of course I did stick it too him about not even reading the owners manual.

Ebay, Mazdaformance, Mazdatrix...
I would think that a owners manual would be one of the first things you buy for the car if you didn't already have one.
I mean.. come on... don't you want to know how everything works on your car?? instead of always posting here???

the owners manual is cool as hell. I got an 87 coupe before i got my 90 vert. and i tell ya, when i got all the original documentation in the glovebox with the vert it about made me giddy.
and my car was bought in texas new from this dealership-Big Billy Barret-and yes this is what it says on his buisness card.
"Jack (Bubba) Blair"
I can't honestly remember the last time i've seen the name Bubba on a buisness card.
I think that's funny.
