O2 Oxygen Sensor Rewire

The wire on my wire harness from the oxygen sensor broke the other day, it is right after the clip. I have been trying to resolder the connection but the car still bucks at a constant speed. Can I just solder a line off my o2 sensor to the ecu. I am sure there has to be a write up on this...the wire just cracks it is so old...if anyone else has anyone else has any suggestions on how to fix this it will be appreiciated.
Thanks,
Chris

You could trace the O2 wire back to the ECU but that is not why your car bucks. You need to adjust your TPS sensor. Search in this section under setting TPS and you will find many threads on how to do it.

It is definately my O2 sensor, i cant seem to get a good connection. I fixed it for a little while and it ran fine, but now it is messed up again. I have the tps adjustment lights and I know that is perfectly adjusted. It is the bad connection i have for my o2 sensor that is causing the problem.

One fellow ran it right through the firewall into the ecu. When I did mine, I peeled the plastic cover back quite a way past the shielded cable. I cut shielded cable back about 1 inch, then peeled inner cover back. Had good O2 wire. I soldered a new wire in place, and covered it with heat shrink. DO NOT get any strands from shieled cable onto O2 wire...It will ground signal. I then use electrical tape to cover everything. Just before you solder, check continuity with ameter, between O2 wire in engine compartment and terminal @ ecu. If there is juice, then wire performing OK. Go ahead and solder, then check again.

Alright! I stand corrected. Never heard of a bucking problem from a faulty O2 sensor.

Bad O2 sensor wires will only cause bucking when the TPS is also bad or misadjusted.

I just ran a new wire through the firewall and connected it to the ecu after cutting the stock wire away... mine was shorted somewhere.

with it shorted or disconnected there is no change in driving... your bucking is probably something else

I found a random loose wire undr the radiater in my car 88 n/a. was told it was the o2 sensor wire. its black with two circular ends at the end of it... not to sure where it is supposed to go. But my car didnt pass smog and the guy said my o2 sensor is prolly bad.

I ran a new wire from the o2 sensor through the fire wall (the hole where the ac drains) and soldered it to the ecu wire.

That is probally not your o2 sensor. It is a single plug.

it's probably for the coolant temperature sensor on the bottom of the radiator... at least that seems like it for a TII, not sure for a n/a
