hello, i just got a 88 rx7 as my second car just wanted to tell u guys im a straight up newbie with mazda, mainly was a honda freak but now i moved on..anyways my first question is how much easier is it to (using money as measurement) increase hp on a 88 rx7 as to a 97 lude, is the maintence on a rotary engine harder to maintain then a vtec? sorry for my retarded questions but i have to start somewhere..opinions from u guys are greatly appreciated...i dont know anyone with another rx7 so u guys are it

hey bro well reliable power is always going to cost you. maintenance is a mush bro. Always on time and it will be nice to you. well the first thing you can do is open up the exhaust and put a cone intake on the ******. that will give you a nice boost of performance. that would proly run you about 400 if you have it custom made.

i have spent about 2k in repairs and mods so far. I don't know what kinda HP you expect out of this car but if you want big numbers you will have to pay big bux for it. you could probably extract about 200hp out of it max without porting.

It's prolly an N/A.....I would go with a full exhaust, headers, intake, Then upgrade the fuel system and put and hefty shot of nitrous. Im thinking about doing that to my 91 n/a that's just sitting in the driveway.

my first mod was going to be exhaust system but i was wondering if i would get more power channeling the dual exhaust to a single. like get a apex n1..btw its a n/a if that means non turbo....another thing is 1987rx7guy on his sig removed ac, power steering etc.. does that help significantly?????another question i have is the intake system, i see custom intakes but do they sell a intake system for a 88 n/a like ingen or someone....

Removing accessories and emissions junk goes a long way to weight reduction and simplicity. Id personally get the Apexi GT spec exhaust over the n1.

About the intake, I havent seen barely any that are mandrel bent pipes. One was like 300$ I suggest if you want one you go your local auto parts store and pick up 2 u bends and maybe a little bit of straight exhaust pipe. Get some rubber or silicone connectors and cut the pieces to length. Then connect em with the connectors, and throw the filter on the end . Works just as well + you can make the filter go where ever you want.
