No Spark

I just bought a 1988 rx7 non-turbo 13b. It cranks over but there is absolutely NO spark. I'm pretty sure the coils are okey since it's highly unlikely that both coils/igniters went out at the same time, so what else would be a good check to find this no-spark problem?!!!! There is also no pulse with the voltage at coil wiring. Any help is much appriciated!!!!

check the EGI fuses under the hood, the 2 fuses closest to the engine.

the inst. cluster (speedo and odometer) is melted. previous owner didn't ground the starter. and no, the tach. doesn't bounce. no gauges work. you don't think the cluster is screwing with the spark do you? i wouldn't think so...

Crank angle sensor, its a four connector plug in the front on the engine like below the p/s pump.

if the instrument cluster wiring is all melted together it is very possible the tach wire is grounding out on another wire and killing the ignition, yes.

more than likely though you are having grounding issues since you said he did not ground the starter. FCs have trouble with grounds already and that is the main ground from the battery to the motor..

Well Well, i found the ECU was fried from the starter not being grounded properly. So it took out the gauge cluster, speedo and the ECU(case grounds). I'm getting all 3 items tomorrow; UPS ... Let you guys know if it works

well i had a customer with the same problem a week ago, turns out his cas wires were damged somewhere in the harness. so what i have is a homemade harness with the big conector of the s4 ecu, i run the cas wires around the passanger side and it fired right up, by the way this is how s5 harness works , the rerouted the cas wires to the passanger side.(less interference from the starter while cranking)
