No Boost?

I took my turbo apart to port the wastegate and after I put everything back together I am not getting any boost. I probably messed something up since it is my first time doing it.

How slow should the compressor wheel be spinning at idle? Mine is so slow it's like watching a ceiling fan spin on it's low setting, I can actually watch the blades spin around. Here is a video, sorry the quality isn't the best.

If you don't have the rotating assembly perfectly centered before you tighten the turbine housing back up, it will sometimes drag on the housing. My question would be is how easily it spins when you turn it by hand and compare it to before you took it apart.

All that aside, sure you got the actuator hooked back up and the arm didn't come unclipped?

Which actuator are you referring to ? the wastegate? The compressor turbine spins fairly freely by hand.

It should spin almost free but with a bit of drag. Shouldnt feel any catching or heavy drag. To me that looks about fast enough. Hard to tell since its sort of darkand the framerate is low, but it looks like its at least doing 5k rpm or more, which at idle Id think is about right.

I would say the RPM of the turbo right now is in the 300 - 400rpm (there is no way the blade is rotating more than 3-4 times per second, possibly less?). Even though you can't see the blades in the video, you can still see how slow the center of it is spinning. When I spin it by hand it turns easily, but it's not like it keeps spinning if I let go, but it is about the same as other turbos that I have felt.

Spinning 2

Do you think the turbo is not good anymore after putting it together wrong?

oh, to me in the video it looked like when you see a car rolling at high speed, when the wheel starts to look like its standing still, then speedsu pand sometimes looks like its going backwards. I thought thats what I was seeing, but yeah if its 3 or 4 times per second Id say you have some issues

like chaos said, check to make sure you assembled correctly. also check to see if your turbo is getting oil, and for the good of the turbo dont run it anymore until you figure it out. If it is binding and you keep running it you could break something or just wear the bearings out

try reving the motor and see it the turbo spools either by looking at it or listening for the spool. Could you have put the waste gate on wrong in such a way that it is stuck open? but I have no idea how fast the turbo should spin at idle...

Should I do something like this to test to see if it is going to work before putting it in? (I will put oil in it first of course)
Turbo test

It's possible you put the hotside back on crooked. It can be done, and will cause the turbo to drag. Pull the hotside and reintall it, making sure the mating surfaces are VERY clean and you tighten down each bolt in an alternating pattern and in several stages.

Are you referring to cleaning these parts of the turbo?

those and the flat part where it bolts. any 2 parts that will touch need to be clean or a small chunk of debris can cause it to not sit flush

Does it matter which order the brackets are in? Or just that all 3 are on and bolted down.
