WA New Clunk. Front diff mount??

Picked up a clunk yesterday on the way back from the store. sounds like it's centerline about a foot-ish behind the drivers seat. Clunks on accel or decel, but it's louder like it's hitting the body on accel. I'm thinking the front diff mount gave out, what says the hive mind?

It's probable. Jack up the car and take a peek. If it is broken, replace it and install a pinion snubber. It will definitely help. If you feel like driving up to south Bellevue, I'll give you a snubber.

How to: Pinion Snubber Install

That was the plan, but I won't have time off to take care of it until next weekend or maybe the weekend after that. LOL. Sometimes I have my work schedule!!!

Very likely the front diff mount if it clunks on abrupt accel/decel. You'll have a hard time avoiding it on 1-2 and 2-3 gear shifts, as well as any downshifts.

My writeup: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/pinion-snubber-diff-mount-replacement-convertible-876959/

It can be hard to tell visually that the mount is sheared. Grab a pry-bar, and try to raise the pinion up. If it moves, but the mount doesn't, it's done.

I blame you for this!!!!!! Mine isn't ripped out quite as bad as yours, but it is ripped. Off to find a new subframe now.

helped fix one just like that yesterday , bit of SS plate drilled and cut with slots and welded a bead at the top
sized to fit inside what remains of the mount and gusseted down both sides and along the bottom with the mig
this remakes the frame though is 3mm more outboard and so you put a spring washer on the inside between the studs and the new plate
