87 TII Transmission going out. Options???

My transmission is starting to go out in my 87 Turbo II Fc from the last few times to the track and slamming gears. 1st to 2nd is getting really bad and barely goes into gear at higher rpms and grinds all the time. I guess what are my options for replacement? I've heard of guys installing tremec T-5 transmissions in fc's with an adapter plate but how much work is it? Or I could go the easy route and just put in a $250 used replacement transmission but I dont want the tranny to break after another 5 runs down the track. What should I do???

Rebuild the trans? I'm not sure how easy parts are to find, but I've rebuilt a few transmissions in my day, and it was never rocket science. Just takes time and tools. Or have a shop do it.

Yea i've found rebuild kits but not upgraded transmission internals so with the track time it sees it'll go out within a year even if its rebuilt. Unless there is a shop that upgrades these transmission to handle more power that Im not aware of???

The car has only seen drag strips and the street so far. Next year road coarses also. Making 270hp. I have heard FD transmissions might bolt up with some work if they are any stronger? Im still a rotary nooooooob, help me out

Hey man you might wanna check out the clutch hydraulics, make sure its all bled, that tranny shifted great, but there was a minor hydraulic issue with the clutch needing bled out ..... TII tranny's are easy to come by, check car-part.com theres several in the 300-700 dollar range

good luck!
