ok here is what need help with....few weeks ago my battery cracked and the battery acid burnt through my harness which has my leading coil wires headlight wires and misc (a/c p/s) i was able to salvage the leading coil wires but everything else is melted and is one big bare wire, well i got my headlights to turn on but i can flip them up and down, at the moment i can replace the whole harness as i dont have the time and dont know where to get the whole dash harness, so im looking for a temporary fix to get my headlights to flip up and down, so how should i go about this,i know if i get a toggle switch i can apply power to the motor to go up but how would i reverse it to go back down, would i be able to use a 3 position toggle switch? or have a which for up and one for down?i know i can leave the switch on the whole time as it will apply power to the motor constantly and most likely burn out the headlight motor, i hope this makes sense im not really sure how to explain what im trying to do, hopefully u guys understand

just manually crank them up until you get a new harness.

 

there's a black cover under the headlights (well, there was from the factory anyway). remove that and turn the **** to raise them.

 

yeah ive done that but i want to be able to control it with a switch and not manually everytime i want them up or down

 

well that would seem like a waste of time to wire up a temporary harness to control the headlights when ultimately you will be replacing the harness anyways. sorry that i cant help.

 

+1. Disconnect the headlight motors from the harness and crank them up. Leave them up until you get a new harness.

Why do you need a Dash harness? I thought there's a large blue connector over by the firewall inside the car that separates the dash harness from the driver's side engine bay harness...

Let me strip down my 1986 GXL parts car and see what that harness looks like. If you need, I'll sell.

 

well its what i want to do, thats why i ask, either way i didnt mean to offend u, cuz thats what it sounds like

is it a seperate harness?i didnt know i followed it all the way into the firewall and under the dash and didnt see a break in the harness or connector but i could be wrong let me check again maybe i missed something, my dash harness has been hacked up a bit lol ill get back to u guys to see if i find the connector, if so that would make life alot easier

I wasn't offended at all, on the contrary I was sorry that I couldn't give you any advice as to how to wire up a switch and only had criticism for your decision.

Im pretty sure it is separate from the other harness, so that helps make things a little cheaper.

yup it is a seperate harness i guess i got confused since its all taped together so it looks like one big harness
