Hi guys! Im new here and new to 7's. Ive owned 2 Nissan 240sx's in the past and I think im ready to go 2 a 7. From what I've seen these 2nd gen 7's have a lot more power than 240's. I've also noticed that a lot of you like NA's over Turbos. Why is this? ( Im dumb on rotary's
)
Any info would be great.

i have an 88 GTU (thats one of the non turbo cars) and i kick my self inthe *** for not getting a turbo everytime i hear the name "turboII" these cars are simple as hell to work on, and you probably wont be too happy with performance unless you get a TurboII, they are still easy to work on, thats just me though

This argument has been going on for ever, a NA requires a little less work then a properly tuned Turbo II. But the Turbo II is faster in every aspect. NAs are popular because (atleast around here) they are way easier to find than a Turbo and are a lot less money.
If you want to be quick, get an NA
If you want to be FAST, get a Turbo II
If you want to be quick, get an NA
If you want to be FAST, get a Turbo II
Aww, yeah, um I have a 89 GXL (N/a) . Ummmm....if you want the power the turbo has I would go with a cheap N/a and then beef it up. This is what I opted for. Plus the twin turbo's that were original are really hard to work on. Now if you find an upgraded turbo system on an FC than I would jump on that ****. Anyway N/a's will give you the neck back to the seat feel while TII's will give you that snap necked feel. It is all in what you want to do. I have a friend who has a modded 91 Coupe and it can smoke a stock twin. He also has about 6000 invested in it over the price of the car. So fast and reliable = N/a's and FAST and ******* = Twin turbo's. On the other hand you could just find a twin that had a sweet owner and buy it off them...I think there was a Tenth anniversity with like 12k miles on it around here one time. I guess it all burrow's down to the money aspect
On the other hand, sell the 240 and buy a 180sx along with a silvia hood. Than send that **** in for some serious tuning, perhaps a new motor and a paint job. Then and only then you would have a sweet car that would be great for drifting and up hill climbs.

When ever this argument comes up everyone goes on about power. So what if you've modded your N/A to have as much power as a turbo, it'll never have the torque of a turbo, no matter how much money you throw at it. It's torque that makes a car feel fast all the time, not just when you're pulling over 6K.

Smart post; how about I call you dumb and then I shake your hand. And now I will walk out my door, get in my running, reliable N/a and drive down the street. You on the other hand will try and get out your door on account of your fat, you will slip and brake a hip. Now there is the next problem presents itself, how do I fit in my car? Once you get by this obstacle you realize that you sitting in your car creates so much weight that your car will go about as fast as my N/a. SO now you are dilemaed on what to do with a rickety 7 that will go as fast as my N/a and will break down 5 feet down the road.

That was funny as ****!

Well, obviously there is no aptitude testing required to buy a RX-7
I have owned NA and TII; heres my opinion. NA is the same platform, so it can handle as well. Base model NAs are lighter, so upgraded to the better suspension/LSD rear/brakes/wheels+tires they will actually handle better-I lightened my 86 base to 2450lbs full interior. They do have a weaker less sporty geared transmission that is a known weakpoint. Turbos (TII) have the HP and torque. NAs can be upgraded to stock TII horsepower (not torque), but it is so ridiculously easy to gain even more substantial gains w/ the TII (example 60hp from change of exhaust and fuel upgrades to match). NAs do have it over TII for reliability, but I am not so sure if this is still the case at equal HP levels (fully modded NA vs near stock TII)? Drive both before you buy!!

Another thing to consider is how many "want to turbo my NA" threads there are EVERY WEEK! The cheapest/most appropriate answer is always sell the NA and buy TII; something to consider...
if you drive a good running TurboII, and a great running N/A.. you'll be like "HOLY **** I LOVE THIS TURBOII, **** THAT SLOW *** N/A, whooo hoooo!!... SAME INSURENCE TOO.. HHEELLL YEEAAAAHHHH!!!"...... sorry.. .. just a little bit of "im pissed off about not getting a turboII to start out" with syndrome, i have an N/A... i can do low 15s and it feels like im standing still.... get a TurboII and then learn how to work on it, trust me, you'll thank me (and maybe let me drive it?) later
I wish I was driving!

LOL. GeFunk, I suggest when you try and make fun of someone, you at least try using some decent grammar.
stinkfist never called you dumb. He said you were wrong, and you are. This thread is discussing Turbo II cars. You seem to know this as you mentioned the 10AE.
TII doesn't mean twin turbos, it means second generation turbo's. In japan, some first gen's had single turbo's and the TII's would be the "second generation" of SINGLE turbo RX7's.
No TII came from the factory with twin turbo's. All 3rd gen Rx7's did.
Now, stop being an idiot and admit you're wrong. I do it all the time, when I'm wrong. Guys like you make women hate men.

Oh, and wanna see what my 145 lb body will do in my modded 90 TII against your N/A? Something tells me I'd win.
