well both would be fast but going with the swap would just be a lot easier. and plus if you boost the na youll also be on the na drivetrain which is weaker than a t2 drivetrain. there are write ups in the faq on how to turbo a na and then how to do a t2 swap. just read and think which would be better for you in the long run.

there is NO turbo 'KIT' for these Cars..best thing is to Do an Engine swap..If you want to Do It Right..if you want headaches, then Go ahead and Try to Build Up your N/A into a Turboed Engine. If you are Rich and Don't Give a ****,more power to ya.It can be done,BUT it has to be done RIGHT..there is NO Half-assed way to Do it...Welcome to the Forum...Sorry to have to tell you this But If you do a Little READING (using search function),It will reveal a BoatLoad of info on this...you may want to Look up Threads such as Aaron Cake's N/A to Turbo Conversion.(try under posts by Aaron Cake).the guy knows the RX7 inside and out.you will find it all..and Lastly Ya,the car will be Faster..Not as reliable as an N/A but you can get some pretty crazy Horse Power out of a TII with an aftermarket Turbo, and fuel management System,Better Intercooler, and so on..Anyhow..Best of luck to you..

Yeah its a whole lot of work and time and even more money. The only reason to turbo an NA is just sentimental reasons that you cant sell the car, or you like stress. It sure is fun when its done, but it involves so much custom work that its going to take time to work it out.

The thing is, once you do the swap it is a "swapped car" and worth less than a true TII. Getting a true TII has everything right and a great transmission too. Ever hear of a TII owner looking to swap na or looking for a na hood, nope...No offense intended, but I would patiently search for a good TII before ever considering a swap.

Actually, one guy on here DID swap to NA once, it was kind of weird <.<

i would have left the hood out of that but you right if you want a t2 then buy a t2 unless you want to build everything up form the ground

It doesn't matter if you swap yours to be a TII or buy a TII...Assuming the cars in good mechanical condition I'd rather swap a well running motor/tranny myself rather than buy a ragged out TII that could have other stupid problems. That way you'll actually know the car more and can do preventive maintanence while everythings out.
If you're on your original engine then you have no choice but to do a TII swap, if its recently been rebuilt then thats another story.

a. If you have the mechanical aptitude or want to learn, then turbocharging the NA engine might be an option for you. You'll need to enjoy fabrication and have the knowledge to do things like make a manifold, drill and tap holes, build custom parts (downpipe, intercooler piping, adapters, etc.), etc. In addition you'll need to be familiar with electrical work enough to at the very least install a piggyback fuel controller, and then know how to tune it without blowing things up.
The result is a car that you can look at and say "I did that!" and will make more power at equivalent boost then a TII, and with better turbo response.
However if any of that scares you, then...
b. This is the easiest way to go. The TII engine drops right in, as do the stock electronics to run it. You can use the NA drivetrain if you swap on the NA flywheel/clutch, or you can do the full TII drivetrain conversion. It's also well documented in the FAQ.
As for which one will be cheaper, that's not a good question to ask. If you approach a project from the standpoint of cost it will cause you problems. Budget $3K and you'll be more then set.
