Werd. How much power are you planning on pushing with this current setup? And of course... how much did it cost ya?

All in all it cost under $1000 for the entire conversion. As far as power? Hopefully 280 at the wheels with a clutch that will hold it. We'll see once I get back to Michigan.

In a pinch, set the turbo as it's going to be mounted in the car, and use an 'air gun' on your shop air compressor to spin the turbines like the exhaust is going to. Put your finger over whatever holes you're confused about - sucking is input, blowing is output.

Plus it's just fun to hear the turbo spin up I've been collecting parts for my project for a while and every once in a while I'll take the turbo off the shelf put a couple of drops of MMO in it, and spin it with my air hose. Good times.

Holy thread resurrection Batman.

Anyways, how'd this turn out? Did the 280 at the wheels work out?

Now we just talked about this - read the reposts thread in the Suggestions forum You can't flip someone **** for not searching and then flip someone else **** for bringing back the thread that they found when they searched.

Besides, it's good info and I had to dig through 20 someodd posts to find it, so it was worth it to get it TTT and on my subscription list. If I can save 1 n00b from asking if anyone's ever turbo'd an NA rx7 by resurrecting good old threads, then my work is done.

I have no problem with resurrecting threads. I was just pointing it out. If I did have a problem with it I would of said something like "way to resurrect an old thread dumbass."

I know, it's just funny that you posted that not two minutes after I said in the Reposts thread about how you can't give noobs crap for reposting something without searching if you give them crap for resurrecting an old thread when they do search.

That's not a good idea. The journal bearings in the stock turbo rely on an oil film to float the shaft. If you spin it with compressed air, you will damage the bearings. The oil on the bearings must be pressurized, not just present.

Gotcha - I've only done it a couple of times, once to make sure that it did spin and always only for a few seconds. I wouldn't do it for minutes at a time though.

You are the Dr. frankenstein of old 6 port turbo threads. There is a remote chance that aaroncake might possibly be working on one.
