Low boost?

ok, i just installed my boost gauge so i could better track my boost levels since my stock gauge stopped working after i put in an FCD. i have a K&N Air Intake(the one that is shaped kinda oval) and my cats are completely gutted. i took it for a test drive and my avg boost lvl was around 5.5#. at one point i got to 7# but it might have been creep more than anything. does that sound right?
BTW, i have a 10th AE and the gauge is Autometer.

ps- i already know how some of you feel about Autometer so please refrain from the "the gauge is crap" excuse.

thanks!

Did it completly stop working, or is the stock guage just no longer accurate? You also NEED to invest in a good a/f ratio guage if you're using a FCD. If you're not careful, you can destroy your turbo, or even you're engine.

FCD makes the stock gauge go kaput from what I've heard so that makes sense that it stopped working. Either that or it should still work but show incorrect boost levels.

yes, that level of boost is about right. Maybe a little on the low side since you have gutted cats.

Its not far off. Try making a 3" TID and see if it raises it up a few psi. Also, the fcd doesn't make the stock gauge stop working(or shouldn't). The stock gauge just won't go up higher than the 5.5psi or whatever.

yeah i guess i'll try a 3" TID. my main concern was why was my boost still at stock levels even though i have the intake and gutted cats...i was expecting more...sigh...
i've gotten mixed answers as to what happens to your stock boost gauge after an FCD is installed so i'm still confused about that.
