lost several psi of boost need help

hey all
my car wll only make about 2-4 psi of boost. i never eard any leaking or big whooses like it wuod if it woould have been leaking. also the exhaust started sounding different. i first noticed the exhaust last night but i never really got on it hard on the way home so i havent noticed the lost boost till this afternoon wheni went to floor it and nothing there. i really havent done anythig different that i can think of that would havec casued it. last night i raceda mustang throuhg 120 nd missed a couple of shifts but i dont think that caused it cuz i get on it like that often and notihg.
i have a 87 jspec with 89 emisions stuff, omp, and so on. any clues?
i wwas wondering a few common things to check for.
do you think it is safe to drive?
do i need to put down more details?
also i am thinking of getting some gauges soon. for the water temp gauge do i go with electric or mechanical? do i use stick sending unit or does it come with one? where do i mount it?
also i want to get a egt guage and what else willl i need oil pressure or temp?
i know theres a lot of questions but thanx in advance

Yes as much detail as you can give.D

Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge now? If not how do you know how much boost you are getting/had?

What if? Or you did? I am not sure what would, could or did happen when it was overheated. Maybe someone else does though.
