Larger than Stock Oil Cooler
Hey, who all has an oversized oil cooler, and what brand/make is it? Prices? Does the one you have fit the stock line fittings? And, did you mount it back in the stock location or is it up front, FMOC?? Thanks!

Right now, nothing. I looking at getting a new motor, and just as a precaution I want to upgrade my cooler to a larger one to keep temps down. I'm installing a oil temp gauge with the new motor so I will be able to moniter it then.

The stock oil cooler is very well made. You will be hard pressed to find an aftermarket cooler that even comes close. What you might want to consider doing is:
1. Shim oil cooler thermostat or replace entirely (search)
2. Adding another one (make some custom hoses, bolt another stock unit above the existing one)
As far as cleaning, I use Super Clean. But be careful not to leave it on the aluminium very long, and rinse of thoroughly. Don't use a pressure washer because it tends to flatten the fins (in my experience).

Clean out the stock cooler (radiator shops can do this, or you can do this yourself with some gasoline, unconcerned neighbors, and some nitrile gloves to protect your hands) and you're fine.

Its about the only one worth any money.
But trust me, you won't need it.

The pressure washers at the DIY car washes are OK to clean the cooler. They aren't that strong. The pressure sprays that can remove paint from a house are not good to use. Just keep the nozzle about a foot away and spray directly at the cooler. It shouldn't flatten the fins. I've been doing it this was on mine for over two years now without any problems. BTW, the stock oil cooler on the FC is awesome. It's an upgrade for other cars.
Get yourself and oil cooler gauge and a oil pressure gauge too. This way you'll know if everything is OK. On a stock car these aren't needed too badly. But if you are going to start upgrading a lot of stuff, then look into getting them.
