just a quick ?

ok i'm trying to get my FC running STILLLLLL and it turns over fine, gets gas, gets spark, gets air, nothing has been changed at all. One day it ran, the next it idled REALLY hard, then it just wouldn't start period and still won't. I have 87 octane in it would that cause a rotar to not have enough to carry over in rpms? when I crank it it tries to run and will start a little bit then just die out. please help me if you can on any of this

Sounds like either a big vac leak, or your AFM is either not hooked up, or its faulty. Do you know where the fuel pump test connector is?

He's saying.....jumper the fuel pump check connector and try againg. If the car keeps running...then the circuit thru the afm might be bad.

Do you try to make the car run over 740 or whatever?? By pushing the pedal on the right????

OOOOPs. Idled really hard. We won't even mention what that might be other than the vac hose (large ones, not the small ones).

Oh boy..This could take some time...

The AFM is the Air Flow Meter. Its in a metal box under your stock air filter. It its not connected or faulty, the ECU wont keep the fuel pump on. Is your ENTIRE intake path intact? All tubing installed?

well heres a major subject on my car, the guy i bought it off of REALLY messed it up see the intake tubing is held up by zip ties and the metal box with the steel plate that hangs down(is that it) there is no filter on the end the guy mad some thing with a plastic cylinder shape on it i'de say trying to make some sort of homemade after market cold air intake if you get the idea also there is a new radiator with an electric fan so the shroud and stock filter box arenot there. this is bad i know but I got the car for $500 running and figured it wouldn't hurt to mess with it, which is whats going on right now thanks you very much for the patience! maybe that can give you an idea of how bad this is

Another thing is I pulled a fuel line off and cranked it and plenty of fuel is spewing out but how does the ecu control it if the AFM is bad? at the injectors or shoudl i wait and see if no fuel at all comes out? I really need to know if this is bad or not i'm not getting a new one for $250 if this isn't the problem. How much would one be at a local junk yard? any ideas on any other sources of getting one?

When your cranking, your fuel pump is on. When you set the key to "RUN" the ECU looks for a signal from the AFM that says "HEY! I am running! Leave the pump on!" If it doesnt get that signal, then it shuts the pump back off. Yovue either got a big vac leak, or something is wrong with your AFM.

Here is a test. There is a little yellow connector that sits by your right shock tower. IT shouldnt be connected to anything. Jumper it. and start your car. You know what a jumper is, right?

No offence intended to you, but it sounds like your in a little over your head. Is there no other rotary people in your area that can help?
