idoit cluster doesnt work

when i turn the ignition on none of the warning lights work. all the bulbs are good because when i ground them out with a test light they turn liKe if its missing ground. there is power to the socket and no apparent opens in the cluster

Those things are notorious for cold solder joint problems...

ya thats what i figured, so i went between joints with a ohm meter and checked for connectivity and none had opens, that makes sense?
it seems like power is reaching there just there is no ground...

Is the clock working? IE, does it display time or does it flicker or not light up at all?

Just re-solder the joints and it will probably fix your problem.. this is what i did and the clock even changed colours and woked correctly!

That's assuming the cluster has cold solder points. I'll look up the write up I did on it awhile ago.

found it: about half way down.

When I was putting my 7 back together, I had turned it over before I finished everything and my cluster didn't work. I started hooking things up and when I hooked up the wiring to the fan for the and the relays connected to it, the cluster started working. The engine light always stays on though and I get no codes so not sure about that. but maybe check connections down at the blower fan.

Try resoldering the CPU, along with the warning light cluster itself. It is the small circuit board in the driver side footwell.

I dunno what year your car is but on my 86 there was a ground right below where the air filter use to sit it was one wire that grouned straight down behind the right side light when I regrounded that my cluster and clock started to work all the time compared to somtimes just check out some of the grounds under the hood and try regrounding them .
