idle...

ive noticed that my fcs idle tends to change; right after i start it up because it has the accelerated warm up removed it tends to idle around 800 rpm and will sometimes go lower and almost stall out but i usualy catch it and will hold it at around 1k for a min or so then it will hold at 800. i go in the house do what i gotta do and go back out about 5 min later when the temp gauge is abotu 1/4 way up and start heading to my destination. i take it easy for the first 7-10 min or so of driving, shifting at 2000-2500rpm till the temp gauge is about half way.

sometimes after that the idle will be at around 1000-1500 rpm; and it will randomly bounce back down to 800ish at a stop sometimes, but usualy will go right back up. why the fvck does it do this?

the stalling stops once the engine builds some heat, but the 1500ish rpm idle is what drives me nuts.

spray some carb cleaner on the throttle plates where they meet the throttle body and adjust the TPS

TPS adjustment can be done by voltage, resistance, by check lights or directly at the ECU. There are many, many, many threads on this forum that describe how to do them. Everyone has their own favorite way of doing it. I make the initial setting by the twin test lights and then verify the setting by measuring the resistance. Do a search on TPS or TPS adjustment. You will find everything you need. Setting the TPS is a really easy process but it's very important.

hrm, now with the warmer weather today the idle has been holding fine at 800-850, i took a little gas out of the 800rpm range wiht the safc and its fine; could it just be the cold weather causing it to stick?
