I was wondering if anyone knows what wires to cut and splice near the clutch pedal to make the car start without having to press on the clutch pedal on a 1989 GTU?

You needn't cut and splice anything.
There is a simple switch on the clutch pedal bracket with two wires....unplug the switch and jumper the two connections.

If you have little kids though, the disabling the clutch switch isn't a good idea. Some kids are smart enough to figure out how to turn on the ignition, and a few of us got our first impromptu driving lesson that way when we were little. That's part of the reason these switches started being installed.

Ah, the ole Audi "unintended acceleration" fiasco, where a bunch of incompetent drivers almost destroyed a company due to their stupidity and avarice.
Let's make America great again.

Plus apparently they'll fail ya in VA for not having it, till I had to point out the 86 didn't have them.

Does jumper the two connections means put them on positive connection?

Not really. I've had mine disconnected for years and have never failed the VA safety inspection.

It means you'll be completing the circuit and bypassing the switch. You'll be able to start the vehicle without depressing the clutch pedal. unplug the switch and jumper the plug coming from the wire harness of the car.

No, don't do this. I had done this on my S5 several years ago, which eventually led to the intermittent non-start problem (i.e., the typical clicking upon start) due to high resistance in the switch. It had me stumped until I though "dammit, I'm gonna get rid of that switch". I made a short ~3" jumper wire with 1/4" male spade connectors on each and bypassed the switch circuit. Problem solved.

I was thinking weird my 86 doesnt require clutch pedal in to start, turns out it came like that factory lmao, I do that mod to my rides anyway its easier on the bearing surfaces not to push the clutch in on start.

that I can understand, maybe its just the wording but it sounds like he just wants to bypass it for the sake of bypassing it

it was an addition to the starting circuit (the FC's don't have it before mid 1987), and only for the US market. Japanese Rx7's don't get the switch until 1999....
