Something Besides Clutch Switch?

To start the 7, when you depress the clutch, it won't turn over. Release and press the clutch a second time and it fires right up -- happens every time.

The clutch switch is not that old, could this issue be related to something else?

Battery is strong, car will start fine, but only after the double-clutch thing.

thanks for any ideas.

Make sure the little rubber bumper that physically actuates the switch does, well, just that. Peak your head under there and push the clutch.

Also, you may have the beginnings of the click-click-start problem. To test, get in, push the clutch down, try and start. If a "click" and no start, keep your foot on the clutch pedal (don't lift) and turn the key back and try and start again.

There's a thread by GoodfellasFD3S on this topic, the starter cut relay can be bypassed which can help. Also, the spring in the clutch switch could be dying, that's an easy fix, you just need the spring from a click type ball point pen, no joke!

^ All good info.

A less technical possibility, how old is your starter? Solenoid could be on its way out.

Starter is One of the Original parts, so OLD and 172,000+ cranking miles.
Solenoid is a possiblility.

Dale, since you are almost Always right on my issues, I'm reading up on the click, click problem. . .
Thanks for the feedback.
